The CircAsana ingredients

Positive psychology

We use circus movements from acrobatics, aerials, inversions, hoop and dance, develop to functional strength and flexibility, while encouraging playful creativity and connection with the community you are practicing with.

We love the color, courage and inclusiveness of circus.

Positive psychology

The yoga element explores graceful, creative, anatomically-safe movement, synchronizing dance, breath and mindfulness to open every corner of you, inspire peace and bring you into the present moment.

We love the wellness focus and peaceful quiet of yoga.

Integrating positive psychology serves as the super sweet fairy-dust on top, providing research backed techniques to amplify your creative confidence and collaborative capabilities for purpose-driven impact and a happy heart.

We love studying the science of happiness.

It has been so incredible building my strength and getting to another level, because I never thought I could do all the things I’ve been doing.

The YOUnicorn trainers

Saffron Van Rossem

Saffron believes creativity and movement are the best medicine.  Saffron found yoga in 2008, at a time when she was struggling with depression, anxiety and lack of self-esteem.  Yoga opened her eyes to the real peace of the present moment, and continues to give her the tools to work through fears, develop healthy relationships with herself and others, and find the courage to express her creativity into the world.  The transformation of her own well-being fuels her desire to share the practice with others.

Saffron is a professional aerial silks performer internationally, qualified partner acrobatics teacher, hula hoop artist and functional movement and anatomy nerd.

Saffron is the Creative Director and Co-Founder of CircAsana and is passionate about blending the art of introspection with expression.  She loves combining creative play-filled movement, anatomical alignment and strength intelligence with the body-mind magic of yoga to unleash the YOUnicorn within.

One of her favorite things to do is develop CircAsana's community circus in Nicaragua and choreograph acts that teach the principles of yoga and happiness science through circus spectaculars.

Amy Rowland

Previously a banking and finance lawyer in Australia and Japan, Amy took a break from her corporate career to run away with the circus and do more yoga.  She performed as an adagio acrobat in Australia, studied at circus school in China, street performed in Serbia, traveled with clowns in Mexico and practiced plenty of yoga along the way.  Her travels landed her in pretty Popoyo-land on Nicaragua's Pacific Coast, where she took on management of the Magnific Rock yoga retreats programs for five years.

After various circus related injuries, and learning more on the mindful magic of yoga, Amy began working with her fellow YOUnicorn Saffron to develop a new style of yoga designed especially for those interested in beautiful, creative movement: CircAsaana.

Today, Amy is a CircAsana YOUnicorn Trainer, qualified Partner Acrobatics teacher, Aerial Yoga teacher, Sivananda Yoga teacher, Thai Massage therapist, positive psychology junkie, and graduate of Social Entrepreneurship at the University of Pennsylvania.

Amy leads CircAsana 200hr Yoga Teacher Trainings, CircAsana 30hr Aerial Yoga Teacher and CircAsana workshops and retreats worldwide.  She is extremely passionate about combining circus, yoga and education for social impact, through the CircAsana Circus with Purpose retreats.

I like the unknown; I like being a little scared for that final performance at the end.  I’m definitely nervous going into it, and definitely scared, but in that feeling, it’s the feeling of being alive.  And that is something that you can either embrace or not, and I’ve definitely chosen to embrace it each time.
